Renting in Brighton is in crisis, and Brighton and Hove City Council needs to take action now to end housing discrimination in our city!
On 22nd June, the Council's Housing Committee will vote on whether to support a motion committing the Council to:
- Condemn 'No DSS' policies, landlords demanding rent upfront and guarantors from tenants on benefits
- Make sure landlord accreditation schemes (such as landlord licensing) prohibit these discriminatory practices
- Support victims of housing discrimination in accessing justice
- Include a condition in the Council's Ethical Lettings Charter that landlords must not discriminate against tenants on benefits
Join ACORN and Brighton renters at 3:15pm on Wednesday 22nd June to rally at the Council and make sure the motion passes!
