ACORN is looking for a Fundraising Officer to build power to fight for social and economic change, starting on 4th November!

We're looking for a Fundraising Officer to help maintain and develop relationships with existing and potential funders allowing ACORN to take on bigger campaigns to resulting in bigger wins for our communities across England and Wales. 

About the job

As a Fundraising Officer at ACORN, you will be responsible for supporting ACORN’s mission of building power for low income communities by writing reports on our existing activity and raising funds from Trusts and Foundations. This will involve

  • preparing and submitting monitoring reports, researching funders, and drafting and submitting bids
  • assisting in fundraising from other sources (e.g. trade unions, social finance and individual gifts) when appropriate
  • providing administrative and operational support to the Head of Finance and Fundraising
  • and helping maintain and develop relationships with existing and potential funders

The first week includes training, shadowing and introductions to the team. The first three months will include weekly 121 management supervision, weekly group team call, on-call daily management support. By the end of the year we will aim to have you writing and submitting work to funders without supervision, but this can be flexible and will depend on the proposal. 

Where identified, additional training sessions are delivered beyond the probationary period in order to promote the continuous personal and professional development. You will be well-equipped with all the resources and tools you need to succeed.

Qualifications

No formal qualifications are necessary! We’re primarily looking for someone with a strong work ethic, good communication skills verbally and in writing and the ability to motivate others.

This role is a 12 months fixed-term contract with the view to be extended depending on funding.

💸Salary
£21,840-£22,750pa depending on experience. ACORN is an accredited Living Wage employer and London weighting is available if the correct candidate is London based which is £23,933-£24,843pa. Salary will increase by £250pa after passing probation.

🏖️Holiday allowance
28 days plus bank holidays

🔎Location
Ideally candidates will be based in cities with an ACORN Staffed Office (Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Leeds, London, Manchester, Sheffield) but there is a 
possibility of working remotely for the right candidate.

🕑Hours
35 hours a week
