Win for Exbury House residents in Hackney!

ACORN members and Exbury House residents have recently secured a fantastic win in Hackney!

After several months of actions and brilliant campaigning the council has now committed to:

✅ Building an access ramp for Exbury

✅ Replacing faulty lifts and the lift service

✅ Better communication with residents and regular meetings

✅Major works survey in 2025 for the whole estate

We started doorknocking in Exbury House at the start of the year and members organized two explosive house meetings in April where scores of residents joined our union ready to take action.

We took action immediately, marching on the Town Hall and wrote to the Mayor with our demands - this saw some small repair works being carried out instantly. But the residents weren't happy yet, and took action again, this time interrupting a full council meeting from the public gallery, and making the local papers.

This finally prompted the council into action who met the residents association and confirmed all their commitments for Exbury House with works to begin in the new year - a massive win for our members, but only the beginning!

We'll be keeping a close eye on the estate and making sure all the commitments made to our members are upheld!
