Bailiff & Council Tax Debt policy
Council tax arrears are increasing, with more and more people being taken to court and fearing the knock of bailiffs at their doors. This is having a hugely damaging affect on our communities, pushing people further into debt spirals and worsening mental health problems. Bailiffs are acting aggressively and outside of the rules, with little oversight. And their use is failing to generate more income for councils.
It's time to change this broken and unfair system, and for bailiffs and councils to be held publicly accountable.
