Times are tougher than ever before, councils are facing bankruptcy, tenants are facing a housing crisis and local services have been cut to the bone.
But ACORN members have been fighting up and down the country for a fair deal for our communities. This month ACORN Manchester's Boot the Bailiff campaign was won, with over 50,000 vulnerable households who are receiving council tax support will no longer have to fear bailiffs and £1 million of extra support for residents in arrears.
In December ACORN Bristol won its campaign to retain Bristol's Council Tax Reduction Scheme. This is a huge victory for 23,000 low income households in Bristol keeping millions in the hands of working residents.
Stoke on Trent and Newcastle Under Lyme need a union fighting in the Community and that is what we are building. A Community Union, of ordinary working people, building and fighting together to win!
To do this we are launching ACORN Stoke on Trent & Newcastle Under Lyme next Saturday, 3rd February. Come down, learn about Community Organising and how we can build power in our Communities
